At Eggerding Energy, we are proud to take another significant step forward in our sustainability journey with the installation of a 2MW/4MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at our Eggerding Industrial Minerals site in Amsterdam. Powered in part by over 7.000 solar panels installed on the roofs of our company warehouses, this system enables us to store and optimize self-generated renewable energy. The BESS supports a more stable, resilient, and sustainable electricity grid by capturing excess solar power during the day and releasing it during periods of high demand. This enhances both the reliability of our green shore power supply for quayside rentals and the overall efficiency of our energy operations.

The system is intelligently managed by Emmett Green’s advanced Energy Management System (EMS), which continuously analyzes and optimizes energy flows in real time. The EMS determines whether stored energy is best used for internal operations or is to be sold back to the grid when market conditions are most favorable. This smart coordination between solar generation, battery storage, and active energy management not only maximizes the return on investment but also demonstrates how innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand.
